Quarantine Edition:

Top Things I do

My content for my blog will be slightly different for now due to this Pandemic we are all going through together. I do not want to get all into detail how important social distancing is. I’m sure you get all that info more than enough all over online. Let’s focus on you. Things you can do to keep your mind busy, and your body healthy during this time!

I think this is a great time to see everyone in unity together inside, entertaining one another through social media, and focusing more on their minds and hobbies. Some of you may be quarantining with your family members, have kids, etc. For me, I live alone, so it can get pretty quiet pretty fast being home for a long time.

Here are the top things I like to do while we are self quarantining.

  1. Don’t skip that work out

It’s so easy to get out of routine when you’re told to not go anywhere for a few weeks and just be home. My normal workout routines before all of this was going to my barre, pilates, and spin class at a nearby studio. I love taking group classes, it is my main motivator. What I like to use to keep up with my at home work outs:

  • Class Pass

    • Class Pass membership dues are temporarily unavailable until further notice. Until then, you can still join Class Pass and enjoy their unlimited Free video work outs. The instructors are just like how it would be in a real life studio class. The work outs are just as intense and it’s all at home for you!

    • Click here for Class Pass

  • Youtube

    • The OG resource for when you want to work out at home. My go to youtuber would of course be my favorite: Blogilates. She has everything from yoga, cardio, and stretching videos. PLUS it’s FREE.

  • Instagram Live

    • There are a good bit of fitness accounts you can follow on instagram. Most of them use the instagram LIVE feature to have people join them in their workouts in real time.

    • Some of my favorites are KAYLA ITSINES , Anna Victoria, and REMI ISHIZUKA.

2. Let’s get back to Reading….for Fun !

Some books I am currently reading:

  • Agatha Christie: The Mysterious Affair at Styles

    • For those of you not familiar, Agatha Christie is the author of Murder on the Orient Express and And Then There Were None books. She is my favorite mystery/crime author out there. If you haven’t read her books, I suggest starting with “And Then There Were None” first!

  • You Are a Badass by Jen Sincero

    • This book is a good little pick me up book, especially around this time. It’s a good book for me to read when I’m not feeling as motivated to do anything. This book helps you identify changes you need to do within yourself, to achieve the goals you want.

  • Crazy Rich Asians Trilogy

    • I LOVE reading books like these. I grew up reading Judy Blume, Nicholas Sparks, and Sarah Dessen books. If you’re into those type of books, this trilogy would be a fun one for you.

3. Learn a new instrument, or play your music more

  • If you already play an instrument, and haven’t played it in awhile, now is your perfect chance to do so! Life gets so busy and I know most of us don’t spend any time or little time playing an instrument we love.

  • Unfortunately many music festivals have canceled for 2020. I know music festivals are a great way for people to get together and just enjoy music together. I love how many music streams are streaming live their old music festivals or DJ’s that are streaming live. I personally think this is so cool, face time your friends and enjoy it together.

4. Call/Facetime your friends

  • It’s easy to think you’re catching up with friends via social media. Don’t forget to pick up the phone and have a facetime hang out with them and just catch up. Maybe this should be included more in our lives, picking up the phone more to call a friend we haven’t talked to in awhile, especially if they live far away

  • Virtual happy hours. Cheers.

5. Get outside! (If your city still allows you)

  • Be smart about this. Just take the time to take walks in the park and keep your appropriate distance from others. Just getting some fresh air and letting your body move is a great way to not feel that cabin fever.

Stay safe everyone! Cheers!
