Millennial Thoughts: Goodbye 2020, Hello 2021!

Goodbye 2020,

Hello 2021!

What a year. Many thoughts come about every end of the year. End of the year means to me a fresh start, new goals, and reflections.

We all know crazy stuff happened in 2020. What I want to focus on in this post is reflection and things I am grateful for this past year. We are quick to point out the negatives in 2020, but let’s try to focus on any positives that happened this past year.

This past year has taught me to not take for granted for one’s health, family & friends, my career, & leisurely activities we enjoyed before covid. This year has helped me rediscover old hobbies I truly enjoyed such as playing the piano more and reading novels just for fun. Days flew by before covid times, with packed schedules, and with a nonstop life.

This year has taught me to check up on your loved ones more, make sure they are okay physically and mentally. Too many times we don’t take the time to stop and ask a love one “how are you?”, and if they’re okay. We need to take more time truly talking to one another, and less time scrolling through someone’s social media life.

What I have learned this year:

  • How to use my instant pot more to cook not only Dinners but also LUNCH, since I WFH now

  • My job really can be done remotely and efficiently without ever having to be in the office

  • Learned more about how home insurance truly works, and also… get good coverage! (back story: my condo flooded unexpectedly this year and i learned A LOT within 1-2 months about insurance - not fun)

  • I am not a homebody

  • We should have really washed our hands more & be more sanitary in general before covid

  • Our mental health is just as important as our physical health

  • The importance of family and friends, calling each other more, and being there for one another more during good and bad times

And of course, I have to mention my “new year, new goals.” I turn 30 in Jan 2021, and that has brought up A LOT of more reflections. What have I done in my 20s? Have I accomplished/done the things I wanted? I know one goal for sure, I definitely will try to be more consistent in writing on this blog. Once it’s safe to do so, I definitely want to travel internationally more. Life is too short, and Life is definitely much bigger out there.

Goals for 2021:

  • Practice more on mindfulness

  • Blog more consistently

  • Achieve additional source of income by the end of 2021

  • Keep hustling at my corporate job

  • More piano

  • More leisurely reading

  • Travel internationally more (once it’s safe)

  • Constantly build my relationships with my family and friendships up

Overall 2020, just taught me to not take for granted for the simple things in life I enjoyed. I’m hoping for a better positive new year. I wish that not only for myself, but also for you too. Cheers to a fresh year. Let’s learn from 2020, and let’s move forward to a new beginning.
